About this project
Beer is booming in the Netherlands. Smaller breweries are springing up like mushrooms. By now, our country has 400 of them, more than our southern neighbours who are known for it. In many cases, these are small breweries. But small breweries become big. When professional piping is required – which is soon at 15,000 litres a year – Vicoma can step in.
Project knowledge: beer production large and small breweries
Vicoma has knowledge of beer production for some time now. The branch in Velsen continuously has 5 to 6 employees working for Heineken. This is one of the largest brewers in the world, producing 10 million hectolitres per year. But’, says project manager René van Zijl, ‘a smaller brewery basically uses the same kind of installation. Only the sizing is different. And René should know: he swapped a job as an engineer at Heineken for a role at Vicoma.
Vicoma’s role: specific expertise in the area of hygienic regulations
Because of this Vicoma knows like no other the functional requirements a brewing installation has to meet. Hygienic regulations for instance. Just like other food products, beer production is subject to strict food safety standards. This is why Vicoma is able to respond quickly when designing installations. And that makes a ‘big’ engineering firm also attractive (read: efficient) for smaller breweries. Partly due to our down-to-earth approach!
