On Tuesday, April 24, Mark Bambacht and Rudy van der Kolk, on behalf of Vicoma, and Theo Koster, on behalf of Techport, signed the partnership agreement with Techport. This is the public-private partnership involving more than 90 companies, schools, and government agencies in the IJmond region, with the goal of becoming the Netherlands’ first green industrial zone.
We have become a partner of Techport because we believe it is important to stay connected to the market of tomorrow. And above all, so we don’t just stand on the sidelines and wait to see if anything will happen. Last year, we also entered into a partnership with the MyTec-Bedrijven Foundation. We see it as our social responsibility to train tech professionals in this region.
Entering into a partnership with the Techport network is a logical next step in light of this. Over the past 10 years, Techport has proven that it is more than just a casual get-together with local businesses. The Techport Innovation Center is one of the tangible results of this effort. We want to contribute to this by sharing and enriching our knowledge. We are convinced that plenty of great projects will follow if we in the region put our shoulders to the wheel. But also be open to sharing knowledge.
As mentioned earlier, we hope to contribute to and enrich our knowledge, and in fact, this is already happening—as exemplified by the Floating Wind Challenge. This is a joint initiative by MyTec, supported by Techport, to design and build a floating wind turbine. Our added value lies in our assistance with the design, calculations, and wave simulation. In this case, the development of this model into a prototype is being carried out at Beuker Special Products, as this is their specialty.
