Vicoma Takes Its 3D Laser Operations to New Heights

With the acquisition of Dura Vermeer subsidiary Advin, Vicoma has gained more flexibility in the field of mechanical engineering. Some of Advin’s 25 employees have started working in Velsen. Their colleagues in the architecture department have since found a new workplace in Sint-Oedenrode.

The addition of mechanical engineering specialists is a welcome development at the Velsen location, where nearly 50 engineers are currently working. There was a great need for a piping department in Velsen. Because Advin brings this expertise to the table, this goal was achieved in one go. During the design process, these employees use high-quality 3D laser scanning and modeling techniques. The customer’s facilities are carefully scanned and modeled in 3D before engineering begins. These models are used as the basis for 3D engineering, ensuring that the risk of clashes during construction is zero and that the new installations integrate seamlessly with the existing ones.

The acquisition of Advin is in line with Vicoma’s goal of steady growth. This step also provides the additional capacity that is no longer readily available in a tight labor market.
