About the Project
The assignment was clear: CANPACK had committed to beginning the delivery of beverage cans in the Netherlands within thirteen months. Our Polish client already had several production facilities worldwide, but the Netherlands was new territory for the packaging group. We took the lead and made the development of the factory our mission.
Vicoma’s Role
With a traditional schedule consisting of sequential activities, we would never have been able to achieve the client’s objective. The process—from a blank sheet of paper to a fully operational factory—typically takes at least three years. Thanks to our unconventional approach, we were able to run various processes and subprojects in parallel. For example, we completed the site study with a purchase agreement and developed the comprehensive design—from the optimal logistics layout to the architectural design, and from the landscaping to the utility connections. We handled all coordination with the relevant stakeholders and simultaneously secured the environmental and zoning permits. We also oversaw the bidding process and managed the project during construction. Finally, we handled the office fit-out.
Result
“Mission Impossible”? Not for us! Within thirteen months, the first cans rolled off the production line in Helmond.
