About the Project
Scania asked us to design their new workshop in Groningen. “We’re looking for a distinctive, high-quality look that we can roll out across the Netherlands.” Right up our alley—because let’s face it, what could be more fun than getting to design a new corporate identity based on a specific project?
The Role of Vicoma
We teamed up with Scania Netherlands to establish and substantiate the appropriate guiding principles for presentation to the headquarters in Sweden. Of course, a corporation of this kind operates under centralized rules and standards. Yet each country turns out to have its own specific characteristics in terms of market, regulations, and working methods. It was a challenging balancing act to which we contributed our part.
With due regard for applicable regulations, we carefully translated the Statement of Requirements into a preliminary design and further developed it technically into a final design. In addition, we advised and supported Scania in its consultations with the municipality of Groningen. Thanks to our knowledge of zoning plans and the support of our network, we were able to spare Scania from lengthy, uncertain procedures. We concluded the process by preparing the application for the “construction” activity under the Environmental Planning Act.
Result
A beautiful design and a very satisfied client. It’s always nice when a client appreciates your efforts and recognizes the value of your contribution.
