About the Project
Diffutherm had been located near a residential area in Bergeijk since 1965. Constraints were hindering further growth. It was time to take action. Diffutherm enlisted Vicoma to provide guidance and advice in the search for a suitable, safe site for new construction in the region.
Vicoma’s Role
Vicoma was closely involved in the land acquisition and development of a new production plant at the Kempisch Bedrijven Park in Hapert. Diffutherm is classified as a BRZO and BEVI facility because a large number of its raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished products are flammable and pose environmental hazards.
Explosive gas mixtures can form during the production process. For this reason, strict requirements are in place.
Vicoma specializes in the storage, handling, and production of hazardous materials. In our design, we adhered to the PGS-15 guidelines—both in our choices regarding building and fire safety and in our production facilities. As a result, we implemented the following safety measures: small fire compartments, a fully sprinklered building with foam injection, gas detection, room ventilation combined with process ventilation, and firewater collection in the production areas and the PGS storage areas.
Result
A functional and integrated design, in which energy management was also a key focus. A complex with maximum safety, achieved through effective project management and rigorous supervision on our part.
