About the Project
Since a multi-story distribution center at this “brownfield site” turned out to be a step too far, Goodman approached us to design a DC with a parking deck. Fun fact: Vicoma also drew up the plans for the proposed multi-story version.
Vicoma’s Role
Goodman is a major player in logistics real estate with a vast portfolio around the world. In the Netherlands, Vicoma supports Goodman at various locations. In Maarssen, too, we applied our expertise in logistics, architecture, and construction. Our structural engineers designed the complex structure with its large spans. An additional challenge here was that they had to account for the presence of a large existing basement, underground retaining walls, and (pile) foundations.
Together, we developed our design for the environmental permit application and handled the submission. We supported Goodman in the tender process with our technical design. In doing so, we incorporated the tenant’s requirements and provided part of the evidence required for the BREEAM “Excellent” certification.
Result
A beautifully designed distribution center in a so-called “last mile” location in the center of the Netherlands. Designed in the distinctive Goodman Europa style and to the full satisfaction of both the client and the tenant.
