About the Project
A new production line. Mars needed one and asked us to help come up with a solution. Since it turned out to be impossible to implement this within the existing building, we jointly decided to expand. Fortunately, there was enough space on the site to build a new facility that connected to the existing complex. We handled the basic engineering for the expansion of the factory in Veghel. We also took care of the preparations for demolition and provided supervision during construction.
The Role of Vicoma
Vicoma has developed a comprehensive plan for the expansion. We have begun the basic engineering for the building, including HVAC, lighting, utilities, and the sprinkler system. We have drawn up specifications for the construction bid.
Since changes also had to be made to the existing building, we performed the necessary calculations. As a result, the demolition work went smoothly. By overseeing the detailed engineering and construction, we ensured that Mars actually got exactly what we had envisioned.
Result
A modern production facility with a processing and packaging area. An extremely flexible building achieved through the use of honeycomb beams with a span of up to 40 meters. The result: virtually no columns and maximum freedom in the layout of the equipment. We incorporated spacious skylights and sound-absorbing materials into the design to ensure added comfort.
Plenty of light and minimal noise: the perfect ingredients for a pleasant workspace. Mars is very pleased with the new facility in Veghel, and it serves as a model for other production sites worldwide.
