About the Project
With the DC Seinehaven project, Schiedam-based project developer DHG is breaking up the drab look of Europoort with six distribution buildings in six equally vibrant colors.
Vicoma’s Role
Of all people, Jan des Bouvrie—best known for his “black-and-white” interiors—was responsible for the bold color scheme featuring purple, anthracite, blue, red, orange, and green. We designed the multifunctional distribution buildings. Together, they cover an area of approximately 100,000 m². We selected the grid dimensions so that the storage space is suitable for both narrow and wide aisles. The presence of a barge terminal with its own depot facility, the location directly on the A15, and the proximity to the Rotterdam container terminals make the distribution center ideally suited for freight forwarding, transportation, and transshipment companies.
Result
Buildings that can be flexibly configured and are available for lease in sections starting at approximately 5,000 m², including a mezzanine and built-in office space. Future tenants can expect a high standard of finish and low energy consumption, partly due to the materials used.
The warehouses have concrete floors with a maximum load capacity of 4,000 kg/m² and a point load of 7,200 kg. The buildings are equipped with a certified ESFR sprinkler system. Under this system, goods can be stored up to a maximum height of 10.7 m.
