About the Project
Stedin asked us to design not only the expansion of the Walburg switching station but also its interior renovation. Both projects included the building services. The addition to the existing building—with its distinctive appearance and adjacent to a playground in the middle of a residential neighborhood with single-family homes and high-rise buildings—called for a careful approach.
Vicoma’s Role
Using clear visualizations and a well-structured presentation, we were able to effectively explain the plan to local residents. During an information evening and a public consultation meeting, we helped build sufficient support within the community. Following this careful participatory process, we further developed the technical details of the plans for the bidding process and construction. Under our direction, sub-models developed by third parties were implemented. We oversaw the construction by providing project management and supervision.
Result
By involving local residents in the design process, we were able to work together to achieve a beautiful urban and architectural integration. The 50/13 kV substation has been expanded and modernized to everyone’s satisfaction and is now ready to serve for many years to come.
