About this project Vicoma did the engineering for a new production unit for 3D printer fluid for DFM, a part of DSM. A special feature of this assignment, called the Eris project, was the very short lead time of only nine months allotted for its realisation.

DFM is one of Vicoma’s regular customers. At the DSM Desotech plant, printer fluid is produced for a rather unique method of 3D printing. The product is formed in a bath of printer fluid. The desired object is then cured by projecting a laser/LED on it. DFM uses existing reactor vessels for the production of the printer fluid. These barrels were originally from the United States and first had to be modified by Vicoma. For Vicoma this was a project with a multidisciplinary aspect. Our specialists were used for the feasibility study, basic and detail engineering, procurement, construction supervision and construction management. The entire project for the new production unit took place in the very short period of just nine months.
