The incorporation of Advin in 2018, subsidiary of Dura Vermeer, has given Vicoma more scope in the mechanical engineering field. Some of Advin’s 25 employees started work in Velsen. Their engineering colleagues have meanwhile found a new workplace in Sint-Oedenrode.
The expansion with mechanical engineering specialists is welcome in the Velsen office, where almost 50 engineers are now working. In Velsen, there was a great need for a piping department. Because Advin brings this know-how, this wish was realised at once. In the design process, these employees use high-quality 3D laser scanning and modelling techniques. The customer’s installations are accurately scanned and modelled in 3D before engineering starts. These models are used as a basis for engineering in 3D so that the chance of clashes in the execution is nil and the new installations connect seamlessly to the existing ones.
The acquisition of Advin fits in with Vicoma’s goal of steady growth. The step also provides the extra capacity that is no longer readily available in a tight labour market.
