Mark Bambacht and Rudy van der Kolk, on behalf of Vicoma, and Theo Koster, on behalf of Techport, signed the cooperation agreement with Techport on Tuesday 24 April. This is the public-private partnership of more than 90 companies, schools and public authorities in the IJmond region with the aim of becoming the first green industrial zone in the Netherlands.
Partnership with Techport
We partnered with Techport because we believe it is important to stay connected to tomorrow’s market. And especially not to watch from the sidelines to see if anything will happen. Last year, we also partnered with the MyTec Business Foundation. After all, we see it as our social duty to train tech professionals in this region.
Following this, entering into the partnership with the Techport network is a logical step. Indeed, Techport has proved over the past 10 years that it is more than just a friendly chat club with the region’s companies. The Techport Innovation Centre is one of its tangible results. We want to contribute to this by adding and enriching our knowledge. We are convinced that plenty of great projects will follow if we put our minds to it from within the region. But also be open to sharing knowledge.
Floating Wind Challenge
As mentioned earlier, we hope to add and enrich our knowledge, and in fact this is already happening with the Floating Wind Challenge as a practical example. This is a combined initiative from MyTec, supported by Techport, to design and build a floating wind turbine. Our added value is in helping with the design, calculations and wave simulation. Developing this model into a prototype is done at Beuker special products in this case, as this is their speciality.
