Oiltanking Amsterdam – one of the largest independent operators of tank terminals for oil, gas and chemicals – engaged Vicoma for engineering work. Oiltanking has a contract with KLM to supply jet fuel. Existing storage tanks were made ready for jet fuel storage. Oiltanking approached Vicoma for the engineering of the process of pumping jet fuel from ships to these storage tanks. Over the past year, our engineers have already successfully completed the basic engineering for this. And recently they started working on detailed engineering.
Project: modifying and relocating pipework to supply jetfuel
To make it possible to supply the jet fuel, new pipelines must be laid from the jetties to the storage tanks. The piping must include pumps, a filter installation and a large vessel to separate residual water from the jet fuel. S Since this is an existing site and storage tanks, space must be created in order to install the new piping. This will require relocating or in some cases completely removing the existing piping.
Vicoma’s role: providing the work package for the execution
Engineers from various disciplines are involved in detailed engineering: process, piping, mechanical and civil. The result of their work during detailed engineering is a work package for the contractors. With this work package, contractors can then make the necessary adjustments required to deliver the jetfuel.
Oiltanking Amsterdam is currently EVOS Amsterdam West.
