Vicoma was approached by Synres, a producer of resin for paints and coatings, in 2017 to help replace its obsolete operating system. Vicoma performed the detail engineering and managed the transition.
Project: exciting transition to a new operating system
In Hoek van Holland our client Synres B.V., producer of resins for the paint and coating industry, needed to replace its control system. The producer continued to grow and the current RS3 system, the software that had controlled the factory for years, no longer met the requirements. Synres chose Rockwell Automation’s PlantPAx as its new control system. Long-standing engineering partner Vicoma was brought in to carry out the detailed engineering.
Close cooperation between all parties and engineers
Because of years of collaboration with Synres, Vicoma was fully aware of the existing installation. For the transition we initially converted over 3,500 signals. We adapted the drawings and schematics of the field installation to the new situation, a task for Vicoma’s engineers. For the transition to the new operating system, we worked closely with Synres’ Maintenance department and their migration partner IAP (Industrial Automation Partners). As a team we switched quickly. We left nothing to chance. Result: implementation of operating system PlantPAx
Result: implementation of operating system PlantPAx
In November 2018, the time had come and the transition to the new operating system PlantPAx took place. This went smoothly thanks to good cooperation and preparation. The production process did not come to a halt for longer than the planned 2 weeks. Vicoma is pleased to have been able to contribute to this important professionalisation. The factory is now controlled by the new reliable software system, with a lot of data capacity. Producer Synres is ready for future growth.
