About this project: energy park Ecoson
Worldwide, the demand for renewable energy and phosphate-based fertilisers is growing strongly. That is why Ecoson expanded its capacity. Vicoma supervised a large expansion of Ecoson Energy Park for Ecoson, subsidiary of Darling Ingredients International. Components of the very extensive project were engineering, safety studies, procurement and construction management.
In addition to the expansion of the existing fermentation plant, this involved new manure fermentation installations, a biogas engine with heat recovery, a biogas to green gas reprocessing plant and an installation that reprocesses the digestate from the manure fermentation into biophosphate granules. Utilities, buildings and connecting systems were also part of the Vicoma assignment. The two-year project was successfully completed in the summer of 2014, within budget and on time. The expansion has a capacity of 100,000 tonnes of manure and 4.6 million m3 green gas per year. This will be delivered to the Dutch natural gas grid. In addition, the new plant produces green electricity and bio-phosphate fertiliser pellets for viticulture. Vicoma also optimised the heat management.
