The success of a project depends largely on the details of its implementation. That is why Sulzer called on Vicoma to supervise a large maintenance project in Morocco. With one of our project leaders at the helm, the industrial production plant is up and running again.
Project: major maintenance of steam turbine
Sulzer is a Swiss company that specialises, among other things, in the maintenance of industrial plants worldwide. One such project was in Morocco. A large factory with 6 steam turbines had a major maintenance project planned for one of the turbines. At the same time several business processes needed to be improved: a new control and monitoring system including actuators, new thermal and sound insulation, replacement of oil pumps and a new turning gear system.
Vicoma’s role: supervision of all operations
The question was whether Vicoma could provide supervision and assist with a project manager to streamline the process with Dutch and local (sub)contractors. This was possible, which is why one of our project managers was in charge of the project and successfully coordinated all the work.
Result: plant back in full operation
After completion of the works, the factory is back in production. In part thanks to Vicoma’s project management. We regularly provide project managers, not only in the Netherlands, but also in other countries. Our specialists in this field have a broad scope: from the complete relocation of a technical installation to another factory site to a project to improve the safety of production lines.
